Central Trains Ltd (UK) The National Express Group was awarded the franchise to operate Central Trains in March 1997. One the last passenger operating franchises to be awarded, Birmingham based Central Trains was formed from the Regional Railways sector of British Rail. Central provides fast and frequent local rail services throughout the East and West Midlands.
